I changed the email link on my equation analysis test to a link to a feedback form. Hopefully this will reduce the number of demanding emails from people who don't read directions. Then again, that could be a pipe dream.

My life has been too hectic and emotionally charged to post this before now, and I regret any worry it has caused anyone who cares about me and my family, but I'm safe and my family is safe. My mother was inside the tower when the first plane hit, but she was safely evacuated. I will eventually put together a bunch of stuff including my mom's story. My thoughts and wishes are with the victims, all of you who have loved ones still missing, and those who have heard the bad news they feared. I beg you all to try to channel your frustration and pain positively. Hate crimes won't help anything, and I'm already hearing about friends of friends who are innocent and have been attacked in the backlash of this horrendous event. Please don't contribute to that kind of madness.

I've been getting a lot of emails about the equation analysis test. I get them in clusters, which leads me to believe that the test gets assigned for homework and the more resourceful children (and parents) are searching for the answers on the web. Oftentimes, they specify a letter for the particular equation with which they need help, but until today I had not used any type of ordered list. I have it set up to list by lowercase letter (not numbers or capital letters, to avoid confusion) now. I also added a request that teachers and students who use the list on my site let me know, so I can start compiling a list of schools that have used my site as a reference.

My Halloween main page is up (The effects are only different on Netscape. Sorry, IE users, but Microsoft's javascript implementation is screwy.), and there's an update to the body modification journal. There's also a new poll.

I'm discontinuing the webrings page. I'm sick of maintaining my standing in them, I don't think I get much traffic from them, and most of the webrings have been porting over to be managed at yahoo. I just don't feel like dealing with it right now. Maybe I'll fix it up another time, but for now all the links to that page are killed.

I've made the info about my jewelry current on the bodyart page, and added a few new snaps to the cam archive.

I added the stories from the bout of The Word Game that was played at Mo's mom Peggy's house on Sunday. Man o man, our minds were in the gutter!

I added the caricature Sam and I had done at Cedar Point to the fan art page. Despite some nested table difficulties, I managed to update my character sheet for the GURPS game I am no longer playing; in case they need to use her, or I visit, or we get a high speed connection and I video conference, or I get confronted by a villain who will spare my life as long as my GURPS character sheet is current, or whatever. I added a couple of pictures of me and Sam to the JessiCam archive, and set it up so each row is its own table. That way it will show some pictures without waiting for the entire page to load before displaying them.

I have been getting a lot of email from people asking for answers to the questions on my equation analysis page. I decided to modify the instructions at the bottom to tell them to ask nicely, and also to warn them that they're only going to get hints, and only to a few. I'm sick of people getting one or two and then demanding the answers to all the rest ("Grab-asses bad!").

Also, I had an interesting incident in a BD's Mongolian Barbeque yesterday afternoon. I felt a need to write to the company's owner to complain. You can read the letter I wrote. If I get a response, I might actually htmlize the whole shebang.

It's been officially decided. I'm moving to Nebraska (Nebraska??!!) to live with the man I love. I'm moving June 10-11. I've updated my personal page to reflect this. I've also finally come to an agreement with my sister about the design of our upcoming tattoos. There's more detail on my bodyart page.

I updated my bodyart page and my body modification journal again.

I updated my personal page a couple of times over the last few days. I changed it a few days ago to remove the nice stuff about my current job, cause I haven't meant it in months. Today, I removed the link to the Vampire LARP I used to play in, and added a link to my character sheet for the new GURPS game I'm going to be playing in.

I updated my bodyart page and my body modification journal to reflect my earlobe stretch and the latest changes to my future modification plans. Hopefully, I'll have some pictures to throw in there soon.

I generated my geek code and put it on my personal page. I also linked to another personal ad that I placed, and updated my body modification journal.

Snaptions doesn't generate enough interest to justify the amount of work it takes to administer. If I work out a better system one day, I'll reinstate it.

I've taken down the links to my Christmas wish list, but I am leaving the page itself intact for reference. I mean, when Santa's all rested up and stuff, he and I need to have a talk. Nowhere on my list did I ask for a sinus infection.

I am tracking the healing process of my nipples in my body modification journal, not only so I have a record that I can look back over, but because it may be helpful to others one day. I'm such the fucking humanitarian.

I have updated my body modification journal to explain in detail my most recent change, and updated the bodyart page to add the new stuff to the list.

I finally added some pics that I've been meaning to put up for a while. I also sorted the pics into adult pics and kid pics.

In the last few days, I've added a whole lot more purple to the site, increased uniformity among some of the pages, and added a few things here and there. I added a few words to my personal page, my bodyart page, and my body modification journal. More is coming, and perhaps not all the details will be listed here.

I tried putting the toolbar on the right instead of the left, and I think it looks a bit better. Unfortunately, IE users who have my site cached will see the toolbar in the left (only in a huge frame) and the main section in the right (in a toolbar-sized frame) until they hit Refresh or the cache gets cleared. I would hope they'd be smart enough to hit Refresh when they see the weidness, but then again... they are using IE. :)

I am really pleased with my new buttons, but I felt there was far too much white happening there. I toned it down some by making the background behind the buttons table purple, which makes me happier to some degree. However, I still feel that the toolbar has become incongruous with some of my older pages. I am thinking it's time for a massive overhaul. It will be done in bits and pieces as I have time, and hopefully the end result will make me happy.

I completely overhauled the toolbar, as you may have noticed. I'm not certain I like all that stark whiteness, so it may undergo another change in the near future. If you have any comments or suggestions about that, email me or leave some feedback in my guestbook or forum.

I've also added a new section for fan art. A couple of people have so far created artistic renderings of me, and they definitely deserve to have them displayed. Besides, it tickles me that I actually have talented fans!

On my bio page, I have added a bit more detail to answer the question of why I moved to Cleveland. On my bodyart page, I have added a body modification journal to record the progress of my modifications, and thoughts about them.

I have learned that all the fonts I had stored on geocities space have been lost, which was really only a matter of time. I'm not certain of it, but I think I may have been short-sighted enough to not back the fonts up anywhere. So, Fontasia is temporarily removed until I can either find all those fonts, or rebuild a collection. Well, it's for the best. The feature was in need of an overhaul.

Let's see, what's new? A whole bunch of stuff, actually.

• I've stretched some holes in my head and updated my bodyart page to reflect it. One of these days I'll actually keep a log of the changes I make to my body, rather than just an up-to-date list of what I have and what I plan for.
• I've updated my Christmas wishlist because I got a few of the items for my birthday, and because I thought of a few more things I want. I'm trying to think of other inexpensive things I want so that the friends who are looking for ideas will have lots of suggestions, and I update the list whenever I think of things.
• My birthday on Saturday started out okayish, but went to crap around 11PM. Chris and I broke up around that time, and I'm very extremely bummed about it.
• Sunday, while I was wallowing in self-pity because of the breakup, and suffering through what was either a nasty virus or food poisoning, I happened to look at my guestbook and noticed how the flavor of the feedback has suddenly changed. At first, it upset me. Now, this amuses me. When I was meaner and nastier to people, I got more positive feedback, and this nicer, more midwestern version of me is getting all kinds of crap. *shrug*

I've changed my facial jewelry yet again, and documented it on my bodyart page. I've also added another EWWW NO! recipient to the ugly section.

I've added a page with instructions for linking to different parts of this site, I've put up a new poll, and I've made a Christmas wishlist in case any of my friends or family want to know what I'm looking for this year. Of course, some of the items on that list would involve a miracle.

I've updated my bodyart page to reflect that I now have 4 gauge earlobe holes... and it just isn't enough! They were right! It's addictive! I want to have really BIG lobes, damnit! Okay, maybe not. Maybe I'll just move my goal to 0 or 00 ga.

It seems that not everyone likes me, *sigh*. The folks over at Portal of Evil have seen fit to slap me down in a fit of adolescent rage. You can view the acne-induced, hysterical ramblings that were written about my site on their rejections page, and be sure to take a peek at the witty repartee on the forum that they erected in my honor.

Today, there's a special Halloween Ask LadyJ, and the results are in on the costume ideas contest.

I've cleaned up some dead links on my Jessicas page, and I have finally redesigned my awards page. It's long overdue, and there are lots of really dreadful submissions to wade through. I am adding newer award recipients toward the top.

I added a bunch of stuff to the personal page, including:

• a link to my appearance in The Cleveland Free Times,
• some new hyperlink navigation options within that page, and
• a few ideas for a new, more personal look at LadyJ.

I also realized that I had meta tags on every single html page. I realized this when I did a search for my page and got some internal pages that weren't meant to be seen outside of frames. I went through the entire site and removed the meta tags for all html files but the entry points. I might change all the existing meta tags to more effective ones some day soon.

Ask LadyJ is updated a few hours early, and there's a contest afoot! The deadline is Friday, October 29, 1999.

A few minor changes:

• I found a more responsive and reliable finger gateway for my personal page.
• I added links to gooey all over my site. It's a program that allows you to chat with other people who are also viewing the same website that you are, provided that they're running the program as well. They're actually going to be featuring my site on gooey talk in a couple of days. Hopefully this will bring more traffic to my site, and gooey-enabled traffic, at that.
• I realized that one of the backgrounds I made a long time ago looks like an abstract representation of captive bead rings, so I made it the background for my bodyart page.

• I finally updated Ask LadyJ!

Happy Halloween! I've Halloweenified my main page, but the effects can only be seen in Netscape 4. I know that browser-specific stuff is lame and all that stuff, but it's a cool effect, temporary for Halloween, and it doesn't effect the functioning of the page for other browsers.

I got my lip pierced last Friday! I've updated my body modification page to reflect that, and added a link to the pics of my tongue piercing as well. My website updates have been really cheap lately. I'll get motivated one of these days, I'm sure.

I've updated my personal information, and I finally decided to scrap the idea of writing a FAQ about my move to Cleveland.

Tomorrow, it will have been two weeks that I have been in Cleveland. I just updated my bio to reflect that and to be current with the other things happening in my life.

Happy Birthday to LadyJ.Net! The domain was registered in late February of last year, but the actual site was born on March 9, 1998. LadyJ.Net is one year old today!

This site's predecessor, The Book of NOTHING, was the testing ground for some of the features that still remain at LadyJ.Net. The LadyJ Awards got their start there a couple of years ago. Other features were conceived while The Book of NOTHING was my operative site, and were born at the same time as the domain, or shortly thereafter. Jessicas On The Web is one such feature. Many of the features followed in the months after, as the site began to take shape. Getting a domain name and a new image can be a great motivator when it comes to revamping a site.

Over the last year, this site has gone through periods of stagnation, as well as periods of intense growth. Overall, however, I'd say it's been a pretty productive year. If you have any thoughts on this, please email me or leave a message in my forum.

Just in case anyone wants to know what the weather is like where I am, there is a new feature to inform and entertain.

Another feature has been added to the toolbar. Now you can search for movies to buy at Reel.com from my site. I get a commission, so if you're going to buy movies online, go through my search form to start!

There's another new poll for your amusement and mine. It's thematic in that it covers the dilemma of when Christmas decorations should come down. I'm trying to decide whether or not I should de-Christmasify my main page. If you're reading this after the fact, my Christmasified page will be saved here. Snaptions has been running very well, and is gaining popularity. There are new pics released, and an archives section to show pictures that have been retired, along with the captions that were accepted for those pictures. Remember, the more people play the game, the more quickly the pics get rotated... so bring your friends!

The first three Snaptions photos have been archived. The game is receiving an okay response, considering that it's only just starting out. However, I hope to draw more people in soon. I need more diversity among the submissions, so the standards can be higher. Please everyone, tell your friends about Snaptions!

I'm thoroughly disgusted with all the hullabaloo about the Starr Report. Let the President do his damned job. If we keep attacking people in high office, the only people who will be willing to run for those positions in the future will be dips, exhibitionists, or puritanical, holier-than-thou, preachy types.

I've joined the fight against legalizing spam email. I urge you all to do your part. I chose to forego making all my pages pink, but I display the pink ribbon, and I have added banners for the cause to my ad randomizer. I have also joined the webring of supporters. I will one day get together the enthusiasm to actually write to my congressman, but hell, computer geeks are the wrong group of people to band together for anything that requires action in reality.

I added an Equation Analysis Test to the toys page. The original questions created by Will Shortz are there, and I will soon be adding some of my own. I also added a dictionary to the tools page, with links to other dictionary resources.

Stuff is still hectic in my life, but I added a forum for people to post messages about this site, New York, me, my advice, or anything else.

I've been so busy looking for an apartment that I haven't had much time for updating my webpages. I am seriously behind on Ask LadyJ!, and Fontasia. However, I found the time to add a new poll.

I happened upon Stick Figure Death Theatre yesterday, and was determined to make a few short SFDT films of my own.

I have a new feature in my tools page. It's called LadyJ's Background Emporium, and it offers free background graphics that I created using Adobe Photoshop.

I've added some PSA banners at the bottom of my main page. While this may annoy people a little, tough titty. I intend to do my part, and I am holding the space for when my site gets enough traffic to warrant sponsorship.

While I think chat rooms on non-heavily-populated websites are generally pointless, I have found a Java chat program that allows you to talk to people on other websites too. It's really fairly cool, even if the commands are limited.

I've added a button on the toolbar for access to Fontasia, and the B series of fonts was put up last Sunday. The C series will be up this coming Sunday. I plan to throw in a few collections that are not organized alphabetically, like Star Trek Fonts, Runic Fonts, Handwriting Fonts, and so forth.

Some of the other New York themed images that Alan Hauck drew have been placed all around the site. I've also added links to this What's New page, so that the examples of updates can be followed from here.

I've added two shockwave games to the toys section, and I'm still waiting on The Geckoplex's server to stop going haywire so Doppler can upload my column for this week. I've also decided that there will be no font archive, but there will be new fonts for download every week. Hopefully the rotation will keep people coming back frequently.

I've added four trivia games to the site in the toys section, and the beginnings of a font archive to the tools section, and I'm waiting on The Geckoplex's server to stop going haywire so Doppler can upload my column for this week.

There are a couple of polls scattered around the site, and I am working on a webring called The Caption Ring. It will link (hopefully) all the games and contests centered around contestants writing captions for pictures. I am also working on getting together a font archive for the tools section, which will eventually be followed by clip art and backgrounds and the like. Ask LadyJ! will be updated tomorrow, and the web polls will be changed around every now and then to keep things fresh. I'm still waiting on MadHack to finish the snaptions editor interface, but I'm crossing my fingers that he'll have it done this weekend.

I set up a little home for the awards I've received over the last couple of years, and another for the webrings to which I belong. I'm going through all the webrings and updating my info, and weeding out the ones that no longer exist or no longer appeal to me.

I've brought back the photo gallery, with a spiffy new look. Not all the pics are there, but more will come. Also, I'm working on getting a caption webring together. Stay tuned.

I've put up a small personal page for now, with a lot more to follow. I've ported over the awards stuff and tidied it up some. Snaptions accepts your captions and no longer calls you a Crackwhore (thanks, MadHack). I've fixed a few erroneous links around the rest of the site.

I've deleted all the stuff from my old geocities disk space. I'm overhauling the personal and awards sections. That may take a short while, but it's being done. There's a new issue of Ask LadyJ!, and I'm planning to keep it current for a while (hopefully). The Snaptions game is up, but not running. MadHack is still stomping a few bugs out of the cgi script, and in the meantime it loses your captions and calls you a Crackwhore. He estimates that the game will be ready some time next week. I had been nagging him to work on it, and now I realize how unfair that is, so if it takes longer than he estimated, tough noogies. In the meantime, there are links to scads of other caption games and contests, so I don't wanna hear any bitching from anyone.

I won Powerball last night!!! Ok, well... I won 80 cents. My cow orkers and I each put up 5 bucks in a pool for a bunch of Powerball tickets, and we won 4 dollars. Isn't that exciting? Ok, ok... I suppose you're right. It's not.

I've joined an advice webring, and made an index page for my advice column. Now I can drag people into the main site through the advice column, and I have a template for the other branches of my site. I shall be toying around with the other parts more this week. Stay tuned!

I've added one of the preliminary sketches of me drawn by cartoonist Alan Hauck. I've added an RGB to Hex converter that I found somewhere. I may eventually make an HTML tools page, but that would not be in the immediate future. I've changed the look of the buttons. Lastly, I've decided to nix putting too much effort into the noframes version of the page. If I alienate 3 people, I'll survive. The real reason I decided to stop fretting over noframes is that I could not for the life of me find a frames incapable browser, and it drove home the point that everyone seems to have overcome the need to cling to archaic browsers. Now, if only Internet Explorer did Javascript...

I'm so proud of myself! I wanted buttons that react onmouseover, so by gum, I taught myself how to do it! Also, I taught myself frames, but that wasn't nearly as difficult. So I now have the beginnings of my toolbar in the left frame, and I am currently referencing parts of my old homepage, The Book of Nothing. This "What's New" page is (of course) also a new addition.

In the works right now is a series of cartoon images that will be on the new site. I have asked an artist to work on some ideas I've had, and hopefully I've been able to convey what I intended.
